Josh Schubert, LPC
I have been a Equine Therapist volunteer for the last two years with Spirit Open Equestrian in Northern Virginia and now currently with Galloping Acres in the Richmond, VA area. I am a member of PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) and am currently getting supervised for my Certificate as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor. My love of horseback riding was inspired by my wife who has always loved horses.
I have a Master's degree in Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio; and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Virginia. Originally I am from California and grew up in Redding, CA. After college I moved to Northern Virginia and now currently reside in Richmond with my wife and two children.
I love horseback ridding and working with individuals, couples, and families to motivate them towards personal growth and wellness. My goal is to improve quality of life by working with people to improve habits, routines, and overall life-style.
In addition to the Equine Therapy Podcast, I do teletherapy; which is online counseling, life-coaching, clinical supervision, and e-counseling messaging. Check out my services here.
The last 6 years I have worked with community mental health and a have had a private practice. My primary therapy orientation is: Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT, Life-Style Design, and Brief-Solution Focused.
